Best month for your Ireland adventure tours

Best month for your Ireland adventure tours

Before people book we often get the question what would be the best month for one of our Ireland adventure tours. It all depends on what you want. For instance, if you come from the Alaska you might want some heat during. If you come from a warm country you might be in the running for some cooling down and if you want to see some Gaelic football matches you need to make sure you check the dates before booking one of our Irish Adventure tours. So please find below a small guide that will guide you on the right booking path.

Weather:

Most people would not book one of our Ireland Adventure tours if they wouldn’t expect a bit of rain here and there. But we also understand that people want to minimize this on their all Ireland tour. So, we have done some research and the sunniest months are May and June with an average of 6 hours sun a say. Between the months May and July the days are nice and warm and really long. You won’t have to stick a light on until after 22 hours, which is great if you are on one of our Ireland small group tours.

Due to our temperate climate, rainfall is extremely common in Ireland. If you don’t like the rain then December and January are months to avoid. Which turns out well as we don’t operate our small group tours of Ireland during those dates.

We don’t have the extreme`s you will find in other countries when it comes to our temperatures. Our daily winter temperatures vary from 4 degrees Celsius to about 8 degrees Celsius and during the summer they vary from 13 degrees Celsius to 18 degrees Celsius.

The Crowds

Like most tourist destinations we have a peak, mid and low season. For all our Ireland tours, we try to avoid the crowds. During some months, this is easier than others, however for all tours count that you go off the beaten track and see places that our competitors wouldn’t be able reach with their big busses.

The quietest months are normally April, May and October. Especially May stands out as the weather is often excellent with very little rain and loads of sunshine. This month often gets overlooked but is a real gem for one of our small group tours of Ireland.

June, July and August can get really busy which is actually really nice as well. Every town is buzzing and when the sun is shining everyone will be out and about. This is also festival season which means that so if you are a big music van eat your heart out. If you want to spend a few nights in Dublin you better book early as Dublin has a huge shortage of rooms during the summer months.

September is very like May, although you can expect a little more rain. But you still have amazing festivals like the Match Making festival in county Clare.

Overland Ireland Activity Irish Tours

Activities

We include more adventure activities than any other companies on our beautiful Island. And since some of these activities are in the water you might wonder if our waters are cold or not. We are very lucky to have the Gulf Stream in Ireland which means that are waters are never super warm but also not very cold. During the summer months, there will be the odd day where you can bath in your shorts or bikini but these days are not very common. For the kayaking, supping and surfing you get a nice toasty wetsuit which will keep you warm. For all our other activities which consist mostly of hiking and cycling the weather is not that important. Your guide will always make sure you have the correct clothing during your activity and before you come on one of our Ireland adventure tours you will receive an info-graphic with exactly what to bring on your Ireland tour. Normally we would always advice people to wear bring multiple layers of thin enough clothing as we can get all the seasons in one day. A pair of hiking boots is always a plus with the rain and the little muddy paths we have. Especially during your hike up Croagh Patrick, The Cliffs of Moher and Mount Brendon these can be of great benefit.

The big conclusion of this article is to get your booking for May in, sunshine, great temperatures and you avoid the crowds. These are amazing ingredients for your small group tour of Ireland and these factors make our Irish adventure tours stand out from the crowd. We hope to welcome you to our beautiful Ireland very soon and we will make sure you have a trip of a lifetime.
